Best Fiction Books of All Time

Origin of Fiction Writing -  Fiction writing has been a very important part of human culture and will continue to be so. Taking an exact point in time and saying that this is where fiction writing was born, however, is a foolish task and anyone who tries to do so is wrong. Books were initially taken with great seriousness, the only place where a common man saw books was with priests and scientists. Thus it was natural that they assumed anything written in a book to be the truth. A change in this attitude was observed around the earlier centuries of the first millennium when Classic Sanskrit and Tamil Sangam literature was born. Stories and poems were written in the common man's language and people started getting used to the idea that books could be a work of imagination too   Fiction Writing has been around for ages and yet has kept evolving. New genres keep coming up along with fresh styles of writing. Some books can take more credit for this than others, t...

The Higgs Fake, Alexander Unzicker - Book Review

Disclaimer: This book discusses a very advanced or rather, the latest major discovery in the field of Quantum Physics. While I have spent a decent amount of time trying to grasp it all, even I don't fully understand the finer details. I have tried to speak in layman's terms, but there might be some parts which go totally over your head. In short, proceed only if you are a science enthusiast.  So that being said, let's start with it. The Higgs Fake: How Particle Physicists Fooled the Nobel Committee is written by Alexander Unzicker, a German theoretical physicists and this was his second book, the first also being a critic. This book is basically a very harsh critique of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and more specifically the discovery of the Higgs Boson by the scientists working at the LHC in 2012, a year before. Before reviewing the book, I feel it is necessary to give a brief intro about what these two things are.  The Higgs Boson and the LHC -  Our story ...

The Need For A World Government - Part B

Image
A long while ago I had posted Part A of this topic which had received a nice response for which I am grateful to all the readers who took time to read about my opinions. In Part A I had introduced the topic of a World Government, its history, and its basic structure. In Part B I will discuss about the various advantages of having one World Government. *If you haven't read Part A please read that first  here * Advantages Of Having A One World Government -  1. Effect on Tourism - This comes naturally to the mind. If the entire planet is one country and there are no boundaries so any human will be able to travel to any place on Earth. Don't get me wrong, we still can travel to any country with the proper documents but unification of all humans will have a major effect of tourism. The reason is natural, in today's world humans are highly suspicious of each other. Think for a second, can an Indian travel to Pakistan? Can a Pakistani come to India? There are so many such exam...

The Atlantis Grail : Book Review

Image
The Atlantis Grail is a four book series written by Vera Nazarian. The full list along with the year in which they were released is - 1 Qualify  - 2014 2 Compete   - 2015 3 Win - 2017 4 Survive - 2017  I found this in my weekly hunts of the Google Books for free books. Now most books there are free because they are trash..no one is gonna pay for them. So my expectations as I started this series were not very high. But as I read it, it proved me wrong. This was a surprisingly good book read different from the usual science fiction books.  The series opens with many huge shocks. It is set in the year 2047 and a huge asteroid is heading towards Earth which will reach in a year and basically humans are gonna go extinct. Now suddenly appear the aliens with their advanced technology and stuff to save the humans. How very convenient you'll say, but not quite. There's a catch, of course there is, or there wouldn't be a good plot to develop, would it. These aliens appar...

A Twist In The Tail - An Original Short Story

He knocked at the door and was puzzled when it did not open. I could see him from the window, and had been expecting him. I checked my gun, fully loaded. Creeping towards the door, I opened it. "what took you so long?" he asked.  I, knowing fully that he couldn't see my weapon, said, "I am sorry."  Hearing this, he got confused. I could see him getting suspicious, but could not help him. So I decided to change the topic "Who lit the fire yesterday, I heard a lot of shrieks."  "It was Sid, we collected the logs from nearby." He said. "Why didn't you? It was your turn this time" I asked, continuing idle talk in order to get him at ease. "I wanted to, but..." He trailed off, seeing splashes of blood-red on the floor. I knew that it was time and before he got a chance to speak, I drew up the gun and fired.  Shocked, he looked down to see his abdomen dripping red. I ran, happy due to my missions success. Su...

The Need For A World Government - Part A

Image
“World government, global government or cosmocracy is the concept of a common political authority for all of humanity, giving way to a global government and a single state or polity with jurisdiction over the entire world.” - Wikipedia definition of world government. I often look at the various leaders of countries across the world - Narendra Modi, Vladmir Putin, Xi Jinping etc. and the sense of deep patriotism and loyalty they have for their respective ‘countries’. They will do anything to improve the lives of the citizens of their country even if it means sacrificing their own life. Now imagine how much progress humans as a species will make if this loyalty to their ‘country’ changes into loyalty to their ‘planet’. That is the idea and purpose behind the formation of a World Government. The concept is not new or modern in any way; the idea has been prevalent since the Mesopotamian Civilization 6000 years ago. Since then, every civilization has dreamt of ruling o...

The Issue with God’s future…

Umm..I don't know what to say, well to say the truth, I had completely forgotten about this blog. With all the pressure of ninth grade board exams and other activities (which include writing my second book), it took a month of sitting at home due to COVID-19 to find this. Anyway,  I have come up with an essay on an interesting and quite controversial topic, god.  DISCLAIMER: The following are simply my thoughts on this topic and I simply share it with you all. However, everybody is free to have their own views. The Issue with God ’s future… “Is man merely a mistake of God? Or God merely a mistake of man?” -Friedrich Nietzsche Countless books have been written on this subject and thousands have sacrificed themselves in the war for religion. But is this right? Can you force a religion on someone? I don’t think so. So, what is the future of religion? Looking ahead in time, how will people regard God? Or rather, will people regard God? Questions are many,...
