A Twist In The Tail - An Original Short Story

He knocked at the door and was puzzled when it did not open. I could see him from the window, and had been expecting him. I checked my gun, fully loaded. Creeping towards the door, I opened it. "what took you so long?" he asked.

I, knowing fully that he couldn't see my weapon, said, "I am sorry."

Hearing this, he got confused. I could see him getting suspicious, but could not help him. So I decided to change the topic "Who lit the fire yesterday, I heard a lot of shrieks."

"It was Sid, we collected the logs from nearby." He said.

"Why didn't you? It was your turn this time" I asked, continuing idle talk in order to get him at ease.

"I wanted to, but..." He trailed off, seeing splashes of blood-red on the floor. I knew that it was time and before he got a chance to speak, I drew up the gun and fired.

Shocked, he looked down to see his abdomen dripping red. I ran, happy due to my missions success. Suddenly,  I paused, turned and yelled, "Happy Holi!!"

I was just browsing  through my writings and decided to share this one with you. I had written this last year in my 9th grade. This was inspired by Hearts and Hands by O Henry which also has a similar twist at the end. I hope you guys enjoyed it and as usual would ask you to share this to as many people as you can.
